Fencing inspection requirements during COVID-19
In Australia
- At the request of the Kingdom Seneschal, Marshals carrying out inspections must wear fencing gloves and observe appropriate distancing as outlined in the low contact inspection procedure.
- If distance cannot be maintained, Marshals must wear face coverings.
- Please undertake these steps to ensure the safety of Marshals and combatants.
In New Zealand
- At Alert Levels 1 and 2, inspections may be conducted as normal or using the low contact inspection procedure. Face coverings are not required.
- SCA combat activities are prohibited at Alert Levels 3 and 4.

Consultation - Draft Fencing Handbook - for comment by 16 August 2020
Following the publication of the Society Fencing Marshals Handbook, the Kingdom Marshallate has updated the Lochac Fencing Rules.
These draft rules have been rewritten to be presented in a plain English format.
Members of the fencing community and other interested people are now invited to comment on the draft rules.
We are interested in any spelling or numbering errors, and questions or comments about the presentation of our changes to the rules.
If you have feedback, please include the section number or Appendix to assist or review. If you think wording is ambiguous, we will appreciate your suggestions for different wording.
Comments should be sent by email to the Kingdom Fencing Marshal at rapier@lochac.sca.org.
The commentary period will close on Sunday 16 August 2020.
